Wandering around this beautiful part of Western Crete one hot early Summer we stumbled across this lovely house. We were so enchanted, and transfixed by the incredible view, that we decided it absolutely had to be part of our future. The feeling of authenticity was enhanced when we found out that the house had been created by a Greek artist and his French wife who brought their skills together to make a unique and special place.
We come here for a few weeks every year but for the rest of the time we want to share it with people who, like us, want to experience slow living, gazing at the White Mountains, the blue sea and the vast skies which form our stunning panorama. You wake up to these views from every bedroom, and live them every minute of the day until the most dramatic sundown imaginable envelopes you from the vine-covered terrace.
The house has four bedrooms and can sleep up to eight people in comfort. It sits peacefully in the middle of a lovely two-acre garden, which is fully fenced with gates, drive, and parking. There are over 30 olive trees and plenty of wild areas to explore. The terraces and verandas around the house offer both shaded and sunny seating areas from which to enjoy the pool and the gardens.
Villa Laraganos is situated near the village of Kokkino Chorio whose whitewashed houses formed a backdrop for the film Zorba the Greek. The beach and restaurants of Almyrida are a few minutes’ drive and Chania, the loveliest of all Cretan cities, is half an hour away. Climb the mountains, descend the stunning gorges and discover wildness of the island of Crete.
Villa Laraganos is available for rent throughout the year. We hope that you will come and share our magic.
